Obituary For Eula M. Wimbish

Sewell Mortuary in Grantville respectfully announces the passing of Eula M. Wimbish on August 16th, 2018.

Funeral Service: Mt Sinai Baptist Church in Gay Ga 8/20/18 at 1:00 pm.

Visitation: 8/19/18 from 3:30 to 6pm at Sewell Mortuary.

Eula Mae (Godfrey) Wimbish was born December 28th, 1936 in Rocky Mount, Georgia. She was the oldest child of the union of John Will Godfrey and Bobbie Iula (Reid) Godfrey. She transitioned to her Heavenly Home on August 16th, 2018.

Formally, she attended Meriwether County Public School and informally, gave herself credit as being a business woman. She had the natural ability to manage many tasks and maintain a budget which was important after her union to Hymond Wimbish, Sr. on December 16th, 1951 with whom she bore 10 children. She had a skill for motivating others, including her children. Despite life’s circumstances, she would say “you need to get up and get busy.” After staying home for many years to raise her children, she began employment at Hi-brand Foods where she worked for several years. She later transitioned to the Meriwether County School System and worked in food services at McCrary Elementary School until her retirement.

She began her Christian walk at a young age and joined Sunnyside Baptist Church. After her marriage, she joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church where she sang in the senior choir and later served on the mother board. She remained an active member for many years. Eula Mae loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had many talents, but most of all she enjoyed gardening, canning and preserving, quilting, and crochet. She was an avid shopper with a penchant for mail-ordering. She may have single-handedly kept the local UPS drivers employed because in addition to ordering, she had no problem returning items. She was proceeded to Heaven by her parents John Will Godfrey, Sr. and Bobbie Iula Godfrey, brothers John Will Godfrey, Jr. and Robert Godfrey, and child Donald Wimbish. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Hymond Wimbish, Sr.; children Barbara (Richard Merritt) Porter, Beverly Harris, Hymond Wimbish Jr., Jeanette (Joseph) Gaston, Willie (Lois) Wimbish, Annie (Ted) Chatman, John (Margarite) Wimbish, Brenda (Raymond) Simon, and Marcus “Deon” (Melissa) Wimbish; sisters Mozelle (George) Wimbush and Annie (Samuel) Hall; brothers R.C. (Pearlie) Godfrey and William “Bill” Godfrey; half-sister Georgia Mae Ross; sisters-in-law Bessie Godfrey and Elsie Godfrey; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; aunts Rosie and Velma Godfrey; uncles Marvin, Frank, and William Reid; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous cherished, life-long friends.

The last time seeing my Aunt Eula M. was on May 26, 2017, at the passing of another Aunt, but I stayed in touch, not as much as I should have, by phone. I called on Sunday mornings just to touch base and let her know, that everything is alright and she likewise did the same. RIP and Love and Prayers!

I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. May the soul of your mother be at peace with our Heavenly Father.
