Obituary For Martha Godfrey

With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Martha Godfrey on June 19th, 2020.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday June 26th, at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Greenville Ga.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm on 6/25/2020 at Sewell Mortuary.

Mrs. Martha (Alford) Godfrey, the daughter of the late Charlie Walter Alford and the late Essie Mae Alford. She was born August 8, 1946 in Woodbury, Georgia on Friday, June 19, 2020. Her soul bid this world good-bye.

Martha married Willie C. Godfrey on August 9, 1965, a day after her 18th birthday. This union was blessed with five children, two preceded her in death; Mr. Jerome Godfrey (Cynthia) and Mr. Antonio Godfrey (Letania). She is survived by her husband, Mr. Willie C. Godfrey; a son, Mr. Willie Godfrey Jr. (Vanesse); two daughters, Ms. Maretta Godfrey (Quince Jackson), Mrs. Charlotte Bridges (Alfredrick).

Those sadden by her demise include her loving and caring husband of 54 years, Mr. Willie C. Godfrey Sr.; their three children; her two sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Barnes and Mrs. Shirley Johnson; also her grandchildren, great grandchildren; sisters-n-law, brothers-n-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    The Godfrey Family, So sorry to hear about Mrs. Martha. She was like a second mama to me.I love her and show nough going to miss her on this side. But one day we will see her again. l will be praying for the family. Love you all
