Obituary For Mozelle Wimbush

With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Mozelle Wimbush on September 30th, 2022.

Funeral service will be at Mt Sinai Baptist Church October 8th, at 11 AM.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM on October 7th, 2022.

Mrs. Mozelle G. Wimbush was born in Meriwether County on January 14th, 1939, to the late John Will Godfrey and Iula Godfrey.

At an early age she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and joined the Sunny Side Baptist Church once she married, she became a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served on the Mother’s Board and as the President of the Mother’s Board.

George and Mozelle joined together in holy matrimony, November 25, 1956. They shared sixty-three years together until his passing January 5, 2020.

Mozelle was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years, until she took a Dietician position with Alvista Care Nursing Home in Greenville, Georgia where she retired after 30 years of service. It also allowed her to care for her niece and nephew. However, upon her retirement she then took on the name of GiGi to care for her youngest grandchildren. Once all of her grandchildren were of school age, she became the Honorary Grandmother to I-58 Mission. She loved ministering to others, and she did so until the end of her days. She remained faithful ministering to the staff at Fayette-Piedmont, Christian City Nursing and Rehabilitation even when she was going through in her body she always gave the word of God to those in need. One thing for sure, after speaking with her you would know she loved you as she always ended a conversation with "I love you" and a beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her Siblings: John Will Godfrey, Jr., Robert L. Godfrey, Eula Mae Wimbish and her spouse Hymond Wimbish; In-laws: Essex Wimbush, Silas Wimbush, Jr., his spouse Josie Mae, Eddie B. Wimbush and his spouse Betty, David Harris and Carrie Wimbush.

She leaves to cherish her memory five children: Mr. James H. Wimbush (Vivian- deceased) of Newnan, GA, George Vincent Wimbush who preceded her in death at 6 weeks old; Jacqueline Render (Alphonso) of Greenville, GA, Shelia Echols (James “Howard”) of Newnan, GA, Georgette Wimbush of Columbus, GA, and Melinda Mack (Frederick ”Fred”) of Fayetteville, GA. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Jameita, Jessica, Vincent, Jamika, Zackary, Joshua and Amirrah; Four brothers: John Will Godfrey Jr. (Bessie), Royal C. Godfrey (Pearlie Mae), Robert L. Godfrey (Elsie), William R. Godfrey; Three sisters: Georgia Mae, Eula Mae Wimbish (Hymond), Annie Ruth Hall (Samuel).
