Obituary For Sammie Willis
K. K. Sewell Funeral Home in Manchester respectfully announces the passing of Sammie Willis on Friday the 21st 2022.
Graveside service will be at Powell Baptist Church in Talbotton Ga on January 27, 2022 at 1 PM.
Brother Sammie Willis was born November 25, 1958 to the late Mr. Charlie Willis, Jr. and Mrs.
Ester Willis in Talbotton, GA. On Friday, January 21, 2022, he transitioned from his labor to
reward at the St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Sammie accepted Christ and attended the Powell Baptist Church and the Jordan Grove Baptist
Church in Roberta, GA where he was treated as a member and a friend.
He graduated with the Class of 1976 from Central High School in Talbotton, GA. After
graduation, he was employed by Thomaston Mills and later pursued his career with the CSX
Railroad until he retired. He was also a member of the Talbot County Lodge #56 for over 20 years
where he served in different capacities. Mr. Sammie was a “Jack-of-all-Trades”, and he mastered
some, especially landscaping and handyman. He was admired by many for his well-manicured
yard as well as his beautiful flowers, fruit trees and shrubs. He was always lending a helping hand
to family members and friends.
Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Cynthia R. Willis and a stepson, Antonia
“Squirrel” Jordan.
Sammie’s memories will be cherished by a loving wife of 16 years, Wardell Jordan Willis; three
children: Letecia S. Willis, Lillian Epps and Avalandria Epps-Melvin; one daughter-in-law: Janice
Jordan; Eleven grand children: Brianna Bledsoe, Asiah Bledsoe, Jacari Bledsoe, Rasheed Lawal,
Jermaine Durham, Nicholas Epps, Michael Melvin, Montavious Jordan, Briana Lewis, Christopher
Jordan, and Zhane’ Jordan; one great grandchild: Little Karmello Jordan; seven siblings: Charlie
Mae (Ira) Whitehead, Virginia Mahone, Janie (Joe) Pritchard, Elaine Hoskins, Johnny (Sylvia)
Willis, David (Justin) Willis all of Talbotton, GA and Larry (Siddie) Willis of Waverly Hall, GA;
brother and sister-in-laws: Milton (Lisa) Jordan, Roosevelt (Sherryl) Jordan, Bennie Lue Jordan;
one uncle: Tommie Lee Holt; his #1 sidekick and best friend: Eddie Trice and a host of nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
