Obituary For Yolanda Mason Lang

With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Yolanda Mason Lang on December 13th, 2020.

The funeral service will be December 20th, 1:00 PM at Sewell Mortuary Chapel

Yolanda Marie Mason was born January 26, 1965 in St. Albans, NY to the late Marvel Drummond and the late Robert T. Mason. She went to Glory on December 13, 2020.

Yama as she was affectionally known was educated in the public schools of Jamaica, NY and graduated Cum Laude from LaGuardia College majoring in Mortuary Science.

She had many talents and gifts. As a young girl of eight years old she would baby sit neighborhood children and taught them entrepreneur skills by setting up a lemonade and cookie stand and sell it to the enterprises on the block. She said they get thirsty and hungry.

Yolanda also liked to sew and create little decretive things and could draw animation.

Yolanda also enjoyed dancing. She has performed for Alvin Alley, The Rockefeller Center, Lincoln Center. She has opened up for Diana Ross Concerts and acted on many videos. She performed in LL Cool J Video “I’m Bad, I Need Love”, Guy, Slick Rick, Crush Groove, Jonny Kemp, UTFO.

Yolanda also worked in The Fisher Company. She was well liked and traveled to Puerto Rico for vacations with her boss’s family. Yolanda was a retired officer with Health and Safety in Parchester, NY. Yolanda modeled and volunteered with Bridges and the Gap Pantry Program.

Yolanda was generous, loving and caring. She always wanted to be helpful and each one reach one. Yolanda touched many lives through her journey and will always try to make you smile. Yolanda spirit was here briefly but her presence was felt and the world was never dull with Yama here. She would say “And the beat goes what….. On.” Yama, I’m not going to ever not have you in my heart cause my eyes still have your legacys. I love you and I miss you. Rest well til we meet again.

Yama was preceded in death by her mother Marvel Mason Drummond; her father Robert T. Mason; her daughter Deasia Drake; the late Robert Drake; her grandmother Lessie Drummond; grandfather Robert Drummond.

Yolanda leaves to cherish her memories, her best friend and husband Duane Lang; her daughter Dalina Garcia and son Dondre Garcia; her granddaughter Sianni Barker; her Moma Bobbie and Popi; stepdaughter Samone Lang; stepson Keith Fredrick; grandchildren Samone Beth, Jayden, Lilly; sisters Kayla Mason, Ashley Mason; brothers Robert and Rodrick Mason, Joseph Mason; Godson Paul Domond Jr.; sister-in-laws Jeaine Lang and Kadejia Lang; mother-in-law Easlin Raime; Cousins Douglas Drummond, Anthony Drummond, Desirae Boyd, Tierra Jones, Wakila Jones, Preasance, Henry, Rebecca Hill, Jessie Barnes, Rayne Hill, Michele Demond, Paul Domond Sr., Kiarrn Domond, Mikey Domond, Brandon Murray, David Murray, Joseph Hill; aunts Shellie Drummond (also known as her Mama too), Janice Murray, Rebea Mills; uncles Harold Murray, Mark Cordero; Mrs. Barbara Cofield and Olin Cofield and Family; nieces and nephews Zipporah Bowles, Zenia Mason, Zaynah Mason, Hathor Lampkin, Milina Houston, Ray Lampkin, Elijah Lampkin; friends Crystal, Gregory, Gary, Richard and James; host of friends, family and neighbors.
