K. K. Sewell Funeral Home in Manchester respectfully announces the passing of Abraham Holmes on April 17th, 2018.

Funeral service 4/23/18 12:00 noon at Valley Grove Baptist Church

Visitation 4/22/18 from 1-5 pm at K.K. Sewell Funeral Home in Manchester.

Bro. Abraham Holmes (74) was the sixth child born to the late Bro. Thomas and Sis. Willie Mae Copeland Holmes. He was born December 25, 1943 in Talbot County, Georgia. He attended Ruth Carter High School in Talbotton, Georgia.

He met and married the love of his life, Ms. Dorothy Ann Carreker of Woodland, Georgia and was united in Holy Matrimony on December 11, 1971 and to this union 2 sons were born.

He was employed by Milliken in Manchester until they closed the doors in 1985. Then he joined Milliken Team in LaGrange, Georgia, where he worked for Unity Plant, it too closed the doors in 2006. He was a Technician and a very hard worker. He joined Valley Grove Church at an early age, he served on the Usher Ministry.

He enjoyed being around family and friends. He loved going on family reunion trips (Tampa, FL, Orlando, FL, San Antonio, TX, Dollywood and etc…) and being at family cookouts, telling all kind of wild stories. He could sit and talk with his best friend, Bro. Gable Jones for hours.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a wonderful and devoted wife, Sis. Dorothy Carreker Holmes who he shared 46 years of his life with; two amazing sons, Adrian Holmes and Gerren (Paula) Holmes of Columbus, GA. He has eight amazing siblings, Georgia Rolax, Carrie Walton, Laura K. Holmes, Barbara H. Brown of Manchester, GA, Martha Harris of San Antonio, TX, Robert (Imogene) Holmes of Talbotton, GA, Bennie Clyde Holmes of Shiloh, GA, and Ray Holmes of Manchester, GA; A mother-in-law, Ms. Louise Carreker of Woodland, GA; two other sisters-in-law, Vonelle Holmes of Manchester, GA, Grace (Lester) Green of Woodland, GA; two brothers-in-law, Jim Dixon of Manchester, GA and Dale (Sheree) Carreker of Woodland, GA; several nieces, nephew, family and friends who will miss him dearly.
