Sewell Mortuary respectfully announces the passing of Ms. Adella Hurston, on September 13, 2016.

Adella Harris Hurston was born March 30, 1919 to the late Will Jeff Harris and Kareen Thomasson of Odessa, Georgia.

Adella joined Summerhill Baptist Church on her 90th Birthday.

Ms. Adella touched many lives. She was a kind and loving woman and she believed in God. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar B. Hurston; son, Willie Frank Woodard; daughter, Annie Arnold; sisters, Josephine Daniel, Susie Mae Harris; brother, Willie Harris, Jr. (First black police chief in Meriwether County); and a special friend of 45 years, Mr. James Arnold.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a brother, Mr. Leonard Harris of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Ms. Christine Harris of Delray, FL; grandchildren, Sylvia Campbell (Kenneth) of Lithonia, GA, Tiffany Houston (Travis) of Newnan, GA, James Turner of Lithonia, GA; great grandchildren, Taylor Stephens, Tyler Stephens, Shantel Billingslea, Sherika Carlise; great great grandchildren, Makaylah Billingslea; Niece, Robin Meriwether of Greenville, GA; nephews, Norris Rhodes (Angela) of Newnan, GA, James Harris (Mabel) of Newnan, GA.
