With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Mr. Alonzo Prather on November 12th, 2021.

The funeral service for Alonzo Prather is Wednesday the 17th, at 11 am at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 pm Tuesday at Sewell Mortuary.

Our beloved Deacon Alonzo Prather was born on December 8, 1927 in Greenville, Georgia to the late Levi and Victoria Prather. He peacefully departed this life on November 12, 2021. Bro, as he was affectionally called had a true love for people, flowers, children and the church. His heart was full of love for all of his nieces and nephews.

He attended Jarrell Public School. He was employed at UniRoyal until he retired. He served faithfully for many years at Mt. Pilgrim Church as a deacon and sang in the choir. Bro was a great man with a kind heart, loving spirit, and an infectious smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He left behind his beloved sister Catherine Gates. He will also be remembered and cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and friends.
