A Time to Be Born: Mrs. Annie Doris Slaton was born September 6, 1948 in Meriwether County to the late Simmie Haynes Jr. and Florene Anthony Haynes. She graduated from Woodbury High School and earned college credits at Flint River Technical College in the late 1990s. She was employed at Dundee Mills Inc, in Manchester, Ga for more than 20 years.
A Time to Serve: Annie joined Mt. Venus Missionary Baptist Church in Gay, Ga at an early age and would go on to serve faithfully as a clerk assistant until her health began to decline and the world went into lockdown.
A Time to Enjoy: Annie was a breast cancer survivor (2015) who loved flowers, fashion, and hosting and playing games with family and friends on Sundays and holidays - especially Christmas as it was her favorite. She had a talent and took great pride in decorating her tree each year. Annie was a warm, gentle spirit - who had an innate ability to listen, comfort and offer support through small acts or grand gestures. May her legacy of kindness and service continue to inspire those who knew her.
A Time to be at Peace: On Saturday, September 7, 2024, Annie made the transition to an eternal sleep at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center with her daughter by her side holding her hand. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Norman Slaton on her 48th birthday; siblings - Bennie F. Haynes, Margaret Sewell and a nephew Keelan Dunn.
A Time to Mourn: Those she leaves to cherish her precious memories include her loving and devoted daughter Yoshida Slaton with whom she shared a birthday; siblings - Linda (Curtis) Harris, Curtis Haynes, Joe (Judy) Haynes -all of Woodbury, Ga and Angela (Willie) Dunn of Jacksonville, Fl. An uncle LC Anthony and an aunt Annie Bell Anthony both of Woodbury, Ga. A brother in law - Melvin Sewell of Luthersville, Ga, a special niece Deidre Campbell, special great nieces - Demia Mitchell, Kamelah Kelley and Kylah Campbell all of Lagrange, Ga. Friends Steve, Sherry, Renita and a host of other relatives and friends
Sewell Mortuary is honored to be entrusted with providing end-of-life services to the family of Annie D. Slaton.
