Deacon Cleveland Hill III entered this world on August 4, 1954, and peacefully
transitioned from labor to reward on January 28, 2026.
Cleveland was a devoted husband, father, brother, and servant of God whose life
reflected love, humility, and unwavering faith.
At an early age, Cleveland gave his life to Christ and was baptized at White Oak
Grove Baptist Church, where he continued to grow spiritually throughout his life. He
faithfully served the Lord as the Bass Guitarist for the choirs at White Oak, using his
musical gift to uplift worship and glorify God. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1989,
where he served faithfully at White Oak, dedicating himself to both the spiritual and
practical needs of the church community.
Cleveland was united in holy matrimony to his first love, Ella Mae Marshall, and
together they recently celebrated 48 blessed years of marriage. Their union was a
testament to commitment, partnership, and enduring love.
He was a dedicated worker and spent many years employed as a forklift operator at
TenCate Fabrics, formerly known as Southern Mills. Cleveland approached his work
with the same quiet strength and consistency that he brought to every area of his life.
Cleveland leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Ella Mae Hill; his children,
LaQuandra Hill, Cleveland Hill IV, and Malarice (Tameka) Hill; his brothers, Eugene
(Carolyn) Hill, Earnest (Rhonda) Hill, and Tim (Heather) Hill; his sisters, Linda
McCants and Christine (Robert) Tucker; sisters-in-law Annie (Henry) Clowers, Mary
Marshall, Ruby Marshall, Esteller (Michael) Sapp, brothers-in-law Leon (Arlene)
Marshall, Charly (Late Brenda) Marshall, his aunts Annette Jones, Gladys Pugh, Diane
Hill, Eunice Brown, Inez Warner, Lucille Horton, Annie Davis and one uncle Jimmy Lee
Warner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him
in their hearts.
He was the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, whose
lives he touched with love and wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude “Sister” Hill; his father, Cleveland
Hill Jr.; and his brother, Ralph Hill.
Cleveland’s life was one of quiet service, deep faith, and steadfast love. Though he
has departed from our sight, his legacy of kindness, devotion, and family unity will
continue to shine brightly in all who knew him.
Arrangements are entrusted to Sewell Mortuary.
