Dorothy Jo Stevens Rosser "Dot" was born on July 6,1949 in Meriwether County, Georgia to the late Mr. Robert Stevens and Velma Parks Stevens. "Dot" was the first born of four children. One nephew, Royce Stevens and a bother-in-law, Mr. Frank Hall, whom preceded her in death.

At an early age "Dot" confessed her life to Christ and joined the Fellowship Baptist Church. She later moved to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Corinth, Georgia, serving as a secretary of the choir.
