Sewell Mortuary respectfully announces the passing of Elaine Hamilton, age 71, on October 23, 2025 (born March 15, 1954).

Arrangements: Funeral service will be Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 12:00 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 4036 Corinth Rd Newnan, GA 30263.

Viewing will be Friday, October 31, 2025 from 5:00–7:00 PM at Sewell Mortuary.

On March 15, 1954, a baby girl was born to proud parents, Charlie and Marylene Dunson in Heard County, Georgia. Her name was Elaine Dunson, but more affectionately known as Shorty.

She joined Harmonia CME Church an early age. She attended school at Mary Johnson in Franklin, Georgia and received her diploma from Heard High School. Growing up, Elaine was a quiet person and often preferred to complete projects alone. After finishing school, Elaine travelled far to Boston, Massachusetts and then not so far to Atlanta, Georgia in pursuit of her dreams of leaving the red dirt of Harmonia.

After Elaine had her fill of the "city life" she came back and united with her sweetheart, Jerry L. Hamilton of Grantville, Georgia. Their union thrived for 47 years until his death. Together, the couple had two sons, Jerry L. Hamilton and Carlos L. Hamilton and a, beloved grandson named Ahmad Hardnett.

On October 23, 2025, God reached down and plucked Elaine from this world and added her to his beloved flower garden, for it had felt incomplete. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Jerry and Carlos Hamilton and her grandson Ahmad, whom she loved and adored. In addition to seven precious sisters, Jacqueline Lawrence, Joyce Almond, Darlene Dunson, Velma Rhodes, Ola Stepp (Horace), Hazel Ellis (Booker) and Eunice Mitchell; as well as one brother-in-law, Herbert N. Paige of Atlanta Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by parents, Mary and Charlie, in addition to her sisters, Evelyn Paige and Virginia Brown, and two brothers, Charlie and Clifford Dunson.
