Emmitt Owens was born April 7, 1952 to the late Hattie and Alvin Owens. Emmitt departed life on Monday, October 24, 2011. At an early age Emmitt was baptized at Mount Venus Baptist Church. As a young adult Emmitt served in the United States Army. Emmitt is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Mrs. Sandra Owens of Woodbury, GA; one daughter, Devandra Marshall of Cleveland, OH; son, Rayshawn Marshall of Woodbury, GA; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; eight siblings, Sally Parks of Griffin, GA, Alma Brown of College Park, GA, Hazel Haynes (Frank) of Woodbury, GA, Gloria Weaver (Johnny) of Woodbury, GA, Gwendolyn Dobbs (Jerome) of Aurora, IL, Reba Reeves (Willie) of Alvaton, GA, Curtis Owens (Cynthia) of Woodbury, GA, Tracy Jenkins (Stephanie) or Woodbury, GA, Christopher Clark of Molena, GA, and Angel Moore of Florida; Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Ned Snelson of Homestead, FL, Willie Mae Geddis of Lake Hamilton, FL, Linda Snelson of Woodbury, GA, Andy Snelson of Woodbury, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded him in death: Alvin Owens, Jr., William Owens (Inez), Alvadean Oglesby (Lang).
