Sewell Mortuary respectfully announces the passing of Floyd Harris on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Mr. Harris was born on Saturday, February 3, 1945.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Gay, Georgia.
Viewing will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sewell Mortuary.
Floyd “Cowboy” Harris was born February 3, 1945, in Gay, Georgia to Arthur Sr. and Lucille Harris. He departed this life leaving a legacy of faith, love, and hard work.
Floyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, deacon, and friend who touched many lives through his kindness, humor, strength, and wisdom. He will be remembered for his love of God, his passion for gardening, and the joy he found in life’s simple blessings. Whether wearing his cowboy hat or tending to his garden, Floyd brought warmth and character wherever he went.
Floyd was a faithful and dedicated employee of Delta Air Lines for 32 years until his retirement. He also served faithfully as a deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church until his health declined. His life reflected service – to God, his family, his church, and his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Lucille Harris; his son, Donnie Bell; brothers, Joe Harris, Henry Harris, Arthur Harris Jr., and Sylvester Harris; and sisters, Linda Donnelly, Mildred Patton, and Annie Jewel Brittian.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Harris of Gay, GA; his children Willie Floyd (Diane) Harris of Gay, GA, Richard (Jean) Harris of Fayetteville, GA, Demetrice (Paul) Foster of Senoia, GA, Dandy (Pamela) Harris of Hogansville, GA, and Deltwion Harris of Atlanta, GA; his siblings, Betty Mitchell, Rayvie (Betty Ann) Harris, Sandy Strozier, Jerome (Regina) Harris, and Debra (Randy) Stevens; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Mablean Turman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Floyd “Cowboy” Harris lived a life rooted in faith, family, and purpose. He planted seeds of love that will continue to grow for generations to come, and his legacy will live on in all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
