With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Ms. Georgia Snelling, age 101, on June 23rd, 2025.

Funeral service will be held at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist 2950 Primrose Road in Greenville, Georgia on June 28th, at 2 PM.

Public viewing will be from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, June 27th, at the mortuary.

Georgia Lee Tenney was born on July 28, 1923 to the late George Tenney and Louella Colton McGlaughlin in Meriwether County. God called her home on June 23, 2025, she lived 101 years 11months and 5 days.

Georgia Lee accepted Christ at an early age, she was a lifelong member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Georgia. Georgia Lee united in Holy matrimony to the love of her life the late Oliver Snelling. To this Union 12 children were born.

Georgia Lee was an extraordinary individual who single -handedly raised her children following the untimely passing of her beloved husband. Her presence was marked by vitality and warmth. She was renowned for baking exceptional biscuits, which her grandchildren eagerly anticipated each morning before school. Her devotion to family and community was unwavering. She had a deep passion for cooking, fishing and working with her flowers. The well being of her children and grandchildren was her utmost priority. She cherished visits from her family, particularly when they brought her grandchildren to see her. Throughout her life, she remained true to herself.

She is preceded in death by a sister Pauline Tenney, (3) sons, Oliver, Aubrey and Willie Claude Snelling, (2) daughters, Ella Mae Thrash and Willene Snelling. (2) daughters in law, Rose Lee and Evelyn Snelling, (1) son in law, Melvin Thrash, (6) grandchildren, Arthur Snelling, Shaun Lockhart, Chriss Reeves, Ganterrious Snelling, Demetris Harris and Willie C. Reeves.

She leaves to cherish her memories (2) sons, James Robert and EC Snelling. (3) devoted daughters, Beatrice (Simon) Reeves, Earlene (John) Harris, and Sara Lee Snelling. (2) daughters in law, Mary Snelling, and Joann Snelling (60) grandchildren, (180) great -grandchildren, 240 great -great grandchildren, (7) great -great -great grandchildren. Her great grandson Jontavious Willis is a Grammy Nominated bluesmen; Jackie Derring is the oldest granddaughter and Willie C. Reeves was the oldest grandson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
