Obituary For James Elgin Rush

Sewell Mortuary respectfully announces the passing of James Elgin Rush, age 75, on October 18, 2025 (born March 24, 1950).

Arrangements: Visitation is Friday, October 24, 2025 from 5:00–7:00 PM at Sewell Mortuary.

Funeral service is Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 3:00 PM at White Grove Baptist.

James Elgin Rush was born on March 24, 1950, in Senoia, Georgia to the late Mr. Hugh, Sr. and Mrs. Louise Rush. He began his educational journey in the Coweta County School System and later advanced his studies at the Atlanta Job Corps, where he proudly graduated as a certified Auto Body Mechanic. Continuing his pursuit of excellence, he mastered the skilled craft of Brick Masonry and Concrete Work—a field in which he truly excelled and built the foundation of his lifelong career.

Throughout life, he touched many hearts through kindness, faith, and service. He enjoyed family and friends, fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling, and just life in general.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Ms. Barbara Geter-Rush; children, Mr. and Mrs. Derrick (Tiffany) Battle and Mr. Tracey “Baebae” Strickland; step-children, Mr. and Mrs. Issac (Florrisa) Tolbert, Ms. Gwen Warner, Mr. Michael (Faye) Geter. James’ parents were the late Mr. Hugh, Sr. and Mrs. Louise Rush; siblings, Mrs. Annette and (Late) Billy Dothard, Late Ms. Doris Rush, Ms. Sally Hightower, Mr. Hugh “Rut” Rush Jr., and Ms. Patsy Wimbush, brother-in-law, Mr. Eddie J. Walker. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and a host of dedicated friends.

The family is being served by Sewell Mortuary.
