With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of John Lewis Heard age 66 on June 20th, 2024.

JOHN L.EWIS HEARD made his advent into this world on Sept 24, 1957 in Grantville GA. He was born to the parents of the late Willie James and Margaret Louise Heard. He was educated in the Grantville Public school systems of Coweta County and subsequently moved to Atlanta GA to live with his oldest Sister Alice Mae in the early 70's. John Aka "Red Bird" was a loving caring father, grand-father, brother, and uncle, who had a passion for CB radios and he enjoyed making new friends in the CB community. John was a skilled auto mechanic (brake man), cook, comedian, and a self pro-claimed electrician. John had a passion for sports rooting for his favorite teams the Atlanta Braves, and most importantly, the "Atlanta Falcons" AKA, "The Dirty Birds" as he would affectionately call them. Because of this love for his favorite team, he was given the nick name "Red Bird" or as he would sometimes describe himself as the "Dirty Bird". Those who had the pleasure of being around Red Bird would always remember him saying "Here, Here, Here", "Sh……..ing Me", or his most notable saying… "What part you don't understand" as he continued to entertain his family and friends. John Lewis Heard departed this life on Thursday June 20, 2024. He was proceeded in death by his (Father), Willie James Heard, (Mother), Margret Louise Heard, (Brother's), James Heard and Thomas Heard. John Lewis Heard leaves a legacy of love to his Children: Shironna Smith, Jennifer Heard, Jaquella Heard, Jessica Heard, Janice Heard, John Lewis Heard Jr., 18 Grand- kids, 7 Great-grand Kids Sisters/Brothers: Alice Mae Myers, Florene (James) Williams, Willie (Diane) Heard, Lonnie (Yolanda) Heard, Freddy Heard, Aunts/Uncle: Alice Mae Heard (Ohio), Juanita Burke (Atlanta) Willie Pearl Myree (Atlanta), Uncle Boot Sewell (Newnan) and a host of Nieces/Nephews: Angela (Mike) Ingram, Cynthia, Karen, Kizzy, Crystal, Raven, Roger, Patrick, Kerry, Gregory (Michelle) Curry, Tony (Shermeka) Heard, James Heard Jr., Jeff, Derrick, Willie, Demetrius, Willie, and a host of Great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

The funeral service will be on June 29th, 2024 at 1 PM at Sewell Mortuary Chapel.

Public Viewing is from 12 to 1 PM prior to the service at the chapel.
