On August 19, 1934, the late Arthur (Bozzie) Holmes and the late Minnie P. Holmes were blessed with a son Johnny (Boot) Holmes. Johnny joined the new Hope Baptist Church at an early age. He was self employed Pulp Wooding until his health failed. Johnny died on December 31, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Warm Springs Nursing Home in Warm Springs, Georgia.

He leaves with loving memories: two daughters, Shirley (Lester) Whitehead of Talbotton, GA and Sally Ford of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Emma Walton and Rosa Ford, both of Manchester, GA; one brother, Willie M. Holmes of Manchester, GA; two half sisters, Josephine and Janice Hardnett and one half brother, Willie Hardnett all of Atlanta, GA; one aunt, Exie M. King of Warm Springs Nursing Home; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and a special niece, Barbara Carter who cared for him while he was in the nursing home, who will miss him dearly.
