Leeroy
Godfrey
October 28, 1947 – May 26, 2025
Willie James and Doris Godfrey welcomed Leeroy Godfrey into the world on October 28, 1947, in Woodbury, Georgia. As a husband, daddy, grandpa, brother, and son, Leeroy was adored. Leeroy began attending Red Oak Baptist Church in Greenville, Georgia, at an early age. He attended Greenville Secondary School and primary school. His family was pioneered by Leeroy. Everyone always turned to him for help.
After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, where he remained for 41 years, Leeroy married Emma Brown at the age of 21. They had two children from this marriage: the late Leroy Sylvester Godfrey and Patty Godfrey-Davis. He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Sundai J. Godfrey, a son-in-law, Reginald Davis, and a daughter-in-law, Dawn Dickson-Godfrey.
He leaves behind his beloved brother and sister, Render Godfrey and Mary James Brown.
He leaves behind four brothers-in-law, John H. Brown, Walter Rosser, Herny Douglas, and Lamar L. Duffy; two sisters-in-law, Virginia S. Rosser and Gloria J. Godfrey; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends
In eternal rest, he joins his beloved siblings, Mack H. Godfrey, Edward Godfrey, Willie M. Godfrey, Gary Godfrey, Martha Jordan, Maggie Hightower, Maxine Duffy, and Jacqueline Douglas. Leeroy will be missed; we love you.
