With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Ms. Lue Stinson age 79, on June 12th, 2025.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM at Mt. Pilgram Baptist Church on June 21st, 2025 at in Greenville GA.
Visitation will be June 20th from 4 to 6 PM at the mortuary.
Lue Dora Stinson, born June 30, 1945, transitioned peacefully from this life on June 12, 202. Her life was a beautiful testament of faith, family, perseverance, and love.
Born to Elmira Parks and Charlie Stinson, Lue Dora grew up surrounded by a large and proud family that included the Parks, Caldwell, Gates, Reeves, Stinson, and Thrash families. She was one of ten siblings: Simon Reeves (Beatrice), Charlie Stinson (deceased), Annie Kate Stinson, Mary Emma Stinson (deceased), Enoch Stinson (deceased), Jeanette Stinson (deceased), Nellie McGruder, Rebecca Head (Tony), and Ellen Brown.
A proud academic and trailblazer, Lue Dora graduated from Greenville Consolidated High School in 1966. She went on to make history as one of the first two Black female graduates of Troup County Area Vocational -Technical School (now West Georgia Technical College) in 1968. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and faithfully served her community through her work at the Roosevelt Institute for Rehabilitation from 1979 until her retirement in 2004. Her more than thirty years of compassionate care left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Lue Dora was a lifelong Christian who gave her life to Christ at an early age. She found great joy in praising the Lord through song, singing with the Combined Gospel Singers and as a faithful member of the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church Choir. Her voice was a source of inspiration and comfort to all who heard it.
Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Lue Dora was a woman of many passions. She found happiness in fishing, crocheting, reading, and diving into the Word of God. Her warm spirit, generous heart, and unwavering strength made her a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind two beloved sons, John Stinson (Ann) and Thomas Stinson Sr. (Felicia); two treasured grandchildren, Thomas Stinson Jr. and Taegan Stinson; her siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones to cherish her memory. Lue Dora Stinson's life was a light that shined brightly for all to see. Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
