Madison Luther Smith was born August 02, 1948 to Willie Henry Smith, Sr. and Ruth Emma Smith in Greenville, Georgia.

Gene as he was known was a member of Branch Hebron Baptist Church, Odessa Community and was educated in the Meriwether County School System, Greenville, Georgia. He also attended the Job Corp in the state of Washington.

He went to work at Philpot Contracting Company in various positions for nearly twenty years.

On November 19, 2016 Gene transitioned home to be with the Lord and join his love ones who crossed over before him: His parents; Sister, Mary R. Freeman; four brothers, Willie Henry Smith, Jr., Robert L. Smith, Irvin L Smith, Sr. and James P. Smith.

Gene is survived by his brothers, Charles U. Smith, Sr. whose love and support was define by their bond for one another; two sister-in-laws; twenty-two nieces and nephews; grands and great grands; cousins, family and friends.
