Margie joined Rocky Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Luthersville, Georgia at an early age. She was educated in the Meriwether County School System. Margie joined in Holy Matrimony to Leroy Atkinson whom preceded her in death (d. 1980). To this union seven children were born.

Two preceded them in death, Kathy Louise (d. birth) and Christine (d. 2011); two grandkids preceded her in death, Lashan (d. 2009), Stevie (d. 2014).

Mrs. Margie leaves to cherish her memory of five generations, Mrs. Bertha Nell Jeffers, Martha Jean Atkinson, Travis Lamar Atkinson, Juanita Atkinson and Patricia Ann Green; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Amey and Louise Boyd; one brother, Thomas (Julia) Amey; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
