Funeral Service
With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Mary Ellen Clayton on Monday, September 27th, 2021.
The funeral service will be Saturday October 2nd at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Baptist Church Goldmine Rd in Grantville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM at Sewell Mortuary on Friday.
Mary Ellen Clayton, better known as "Big Not" was born November 24, 1933 to the late Bishop Sr and Mattie Mae Render in Grantville, Georgia.
Big Not attended Luthersville Elementary and High where she received her high school diploma. She received Christ at an early age and join the Macedonia Baptist Church where she served on the usher board. She loved the Lord and served also at MT Zion Holiness Church currently know as "The City of Zion Deliverance Tabernacle" and also served at the Prosperity Outreach Prayer Band All of Luthersville Georgia. She was united in holy matrimony to Jimmy Richard Clayton in 1950. To this union four children were born. She was employed with the Bonnell Aluminum Company for 22 years and Coweta General Hospital for a number of years.
After retirement, she worked briefly at Precious Hearts Daycare in Luthersville, Georgia. She was later elected to the Luthersville City Council where she served until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Richard Clayton; two daughters, Linda Favors and Beverly Clayton; one Son, Gerome Ronald Clayton; one great grandson, Brandon Michael Woodard.
She is lovingly survived by one son Roy Michael Clayton and loving daughter Annie J. Clayton; and son-in-law Clarence Favors; grandchildren Sabrina Clayton, Erica Woodard, Maurice (Helen) Woodard, Effily (Lee Lee) Langford, Jessica (Eric) Ware, Jeremiah (Kimberly) Clayton, Krystal Rosser, Amanda (Harry) Watkins; one sister Minister Rosa Tate; one sister-in-law Elizabeth Render; one brother-inlaw Mack (Juanita) Clayton; sixteen great grands Taneshia, Jasmine, Elandra, Pastor Errick, Maurica, Jayln, Jeremiah Jr, Marcus, Anthony, Jaslyn, Antasia, Andasia, Andarius, Asiayuna, Anthevia , Amaiha; three great great grands Arriayah, Russell III, Jaliyah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
