Mrs. Mattie Ella Martin was born on May 2, 1938 in Greenville, Georgia to the late Joe Roger (Pete) and Otha Williams. She had one brother, Ashful Williams, Sr., who also preceded her in death. At an early age she joined Brinson Chapel. C.M.E. After attending and graduating from the Meriwether County School System she married Will Martin, who preceded her in death June of 2006, and moved to Atlanta. To this union six children were born; Five sons, Will Jr., Gregory, Ronnie (Leila), Randy, and Ray (Tannie) and one daughter, Janice.

On Saturday night, June 3, 2016, God called her to her rest. In addition to her children she leaves to cherish her memory five grandsons, Joshua, Ronterio, Geovontae, Justin, and Ray Jr.; one granddaughter, Rachel; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also, many adopted sons and daughters.
