Obituary For Aloah Janet King

Aloah Janet King of Fremont California passed away on December 4th, 2024. Aloah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many.

Aloah was born on October 17, 1928, in Shoals, Indiana, to IO and Audrene Crim. She grew up in Shoals with her parents and seven siblings until she moved away to Florida to attend Florida Christian College. This is where she met her husband, Dwight King. He “caught her attention” by waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs every night for dinner until she noticed him. They continued their education at Harding University in Arkansas where she received her degrees in Home Economics and Music.

After graduation from Harding University, Dwight and Aloah moved to Houston, Texas. Aloah started her career as a music specialist in the Houston Independent School District. While in Houston, they had their three children: Candance, Timothy and Penelope.

In 1969, the family moved to Fremont, California. Aloah was the Music Specialist at Millard Elementary School for over 35 years in the Fremont Unified School District. She was a prominent member of the Fremont Philharmonic Society and started the Children’s Concerts’ program that still take place today. Aloah was a devout Christian and a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her children: Tim and Penny Jo, her grandchildren: Aaron, Amy and Hayden, and her great-grandchildren: Elle and Mikey. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and community.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to her favorite charity: the Bay Philharmonics Guild.

Condolences

The very last of her MANY siblings, I'm sure they all waited with anticipation to usher her into paradise. What a celebration! Hugs and prayers to her children and family. Her sister, my Grandmother, was very proud of her accomplishments her education and her work with the community in music. She often came up in conversation as my grandma knew I had a very similar love for music, one that stemmed from Aunt Aloah's work with my own mother and her siblings at such a young age (The Schrieber Sisters). Thank you, Aunt Aloah for the riches you passed on from generation to generation. What a blessing!

My sweet memory is Aloah lining up her nieces and nephews in the parents front yard around the swing and teaching us Tom Doole.
