Obituary

K. K. Sewell Funeral Home in Manchester respectfully announces the passing of Rita Jackson on July 22nd, 2021.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 at 10 AM at Valley Grove Baptist Church in Shiloh Ga.

Visitation is July 27th, from 1 to 3 PM at K. K. Sewell Funeral Home

Sometime during the early hours of Thursday, July 22, 2021 Rita Angela Jackson was found in the quiet slumber of death. She was born (the second daughter) January 2, 1954 to the late Willie Lee Jackson and Catherine (Bryant) Jackson. She was a resident at the Warm Springs Nursing Home facility. She was there as a result of years of ongoing depression.

She joined Valley Grove Baptist Church at an early age circa 1967 under the ministry of Pastor Curtis Johnson and she sang in the choir during the early years of her membership.

She was a high school graduate of Central High School of Talbotton Georgia. She then attended college at Albany State College in Albany, Georgia there obtaining her baccalaureate degree in Art. She found employment at Maxxis and had dreams of starting her own business. It was at this time her problems of mental stability began.

She loved having visitors and especially loved to be with family members during the holidays. She took care of her late father during the latter years of his life. She would visit older members of the community and would leave words of love and encouragement. She took her affliction with patience and acceptance.

She leaves to mourn: Two brothers Calvin Jackson (Riverdale, GA) and Weston Jackson (Sharon); one niece Jessica Jackson (Shiloh, GA); a most helpful cousin during her illness Joann Holsey, Lillian Pearl (A. B. Hall) (Atlanta, GA), Roosevelt (Loretta) Jackson, (Shiloh, GA), Sandy (Lavone) Jackson (Detroit, MI), Thelma Jackson (Robert E. Jackson, deceased) (Manchester, GA), Bernice (Felton, deceased) Jackson (Detroit, MI), Mary Nell (Jimmy Cook), (Milford, KS) and a host of cousins, family and friends who loved her dearly.
