Obituary For Rita Marie Scott

Sewell Mortuary respectfully announces the passing of Rita Marie Scott, age 44, who was born on Wednesday, August 12th, 1981, and departed this life on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at New Springfield Baptist Church in Greenville, Georgia.

Viewing will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sewell Mortuary.

Rita Marie Scott was born August 12, 1981, in Warm Springs, Georgia. From the very start, she was a bright and gifted child, known for her giving heart and the radiant spirit she carried everywhere she went.

She grew up with three siblings: her twin brother, Richard Scott, her brother, Rico Scott, and her sister, Renita Scott.

Rita lived a life filled with purpose and strength. She was a domestic violence survivor and activist, a published author, a college student, and a successful business owner. She founded several organizations and outreach ministries, including U Don’t Know My Story, CBYN, and Gracefully Touched. She was also working on her clothing line, Kingdom Wear, and she loved to work on lots of crafts – Rita really did everything. In addition, Rita was a pageant queen, proudly winning Ms. Exquisite Full-Figured Georgia 2023 and Ms. Community Service.

Rita had a true passion for music. Music gave her joy, comfort, and strength – whether she was learning to speak again after a stroke or simply singing in the kitchen while she cooked. She was also an artist at heart. Though she didn’t often mention it, Rita had a natural talent for drawing.

Rita’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was deeply active in church, a devoted and God-fearing woman who loved the Lord with her whole heart and definitely was not afraid to show it.

Rita’s greatest joy was her children. In 2000, she welcomed her first child, a daughter, Brendashai Scott. In 2001, she gave birth to her son, Cirnonvonte Easley. A few years later, she welcomed her son, Zechariah Easley, and finally, her youngest daughter, Aziyah Watkins. Everyone who knew Rita knew how deeply she loved her children. She would give or do anything for them without hesitation; and let’s not forget her grandchildren who became her strength and encouragement in her final days.

Rita’s life and legacy reflect strength, resilience, creativity, and unconditional love.

May our Queen Rita rest in paradise.

Queen Rita Marie Scott was preceded in death by her grandparents, Judson and Betty Scott; uncle, Judson Scott Jr.; aunt, Annie Bell Rosser; and brother, Brodrick J. Rosser.

Queen Rita Marie Scott leaves behind her mother, Brenda Scott; father, Willie J. Rosser (Harriett, bonus mother); children, Brendashai Scott, Cirnonvonte Easley, Zechariah Easley, and Aziyah Watkins; grandchildren, Ulane Carston, Demitre Carston Jr., Kaydence Carston, Zamariah Werts, and Zakai Werts; brothers and sisters, Richard Scott (Nicole), Renita Scott, Rico Scott (Kimberly), Twanna Rosser, Shadonna Mayner, Shamonica Coldwell (Bryan), Matrone Carr (Serita), Herschel Slater, Whitley Conic, Glen Rosser, and Yvette Dennis; aunts and uncles, Joanne Smith, Willie G. Rosser (Wanda), and Mary Prather (Walt); nieces and nephews, Breanna Scott, Davontez Scott, Jermaine Scott, Mariya Scott, Javious Godfrey, Jada Scott, Akhari Wright, and Rharri Wright.

The staff of Sewell Mortuary is honored to serve the family of Rita Marie Scott.
