K K Sewell Funeral Home respectfully announces the passing of Thelma McGruder on April 3rd, 2017.

Thelma D. McGruder was born January 7, 1920 in Harris County to the late William and Ada Denson.

Thelma grew up and attended school in Durand, Georgia where she also met and was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Charlie "Rook" McGruder and to the union three children was born; two of which preceded her in death, H. C. McGruder and Linda Faye McGruder.

Thelma departed this life on April 3, 2017, leaving to cherish her loving memories, one daughter, Ms. Dorothy Hill (James) of LaGrange, GA; one brother, McKinley Denson of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Mildred Jackson of Manchester, GA, Mary Harper of Atlanta, GA. Siblings that preceded her in death are Leroy Denson, Robert Denson, Marie Denson and Willa Millings.

Her love and generosity will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on in the generation that follows which consists of twenty-one grandchildren, sixty great grandchildren, twenty-nine great great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A rose has been picked from the garden that was watered and nurtured with love, but remember she hasn't gone very far, she's just watching from up above.
