Sewell Mortuary is sad to announce the passing of Virgil Prather of Gay, Georgia on March 3rd, 2016

Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday March 12th, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Venus Baptist Church in Gay, GA.

Mr. Virgil Prather Sr. was born March 13, 1939 in Gay, Georgia Meriwether County to the late George Bryant and Cora Bell Prather, Patrick. On Thursday, God called his name and he had to answer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Adams Prather; two daughters, Margerat P. Russell and Mrs. Bernice P. Bell; two sons, Mr. James Prather and Mr. John Prather; four brothers, John, Slyvester, Tommy Bryant and Rosevelt Prather; five sisters, Maggie Lene Leach, Cora Mae Prather, Albert Favor, Sallie Mae Walls and Nootie Bryant.

He joined the Mt. Venus Baptist Church at a very young age. He attended the Meriwether County School System. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mrs. Elizabeth Prather for over fourty nine years until her departure from Earth.

Left to cherish his memories, six children, Mr. Virgil Prather Jr.,Mr. Bennie (Sylvia) Prather, Rayve Prather, Mary (George) McCauley, Mrs. Diane (Willie) Harris and Estella (Johnny) Sherman; seven sisters, Mrs. Annie Lois (Rosevelt) Hall, Ms. Annette Favors, Ms. Georgia Mae Bryant, Ms. Regina Bryant, Mrs. Renae (Ray) Adams, Ms. Linda Bryant and Marie Kimble; four brothers, Mr. Willie Frank Prather, Mr. William Lee Prather, Mr. A.D. Bryant and Mr. Jimmy Lee Bryant; one special aunt, Alberta Keith; two brother-in-laws, Mr. Larry Adams and Mr. Albert Adams; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.
