Willie Charles
Patrick
December 28, 1939 – April 21, 2026
Willie Charles Patrick Sr., affectionately known to all as “Wild Bill,” passed away on April 21, 2026, at his home in Greenville, Georgia. He was 86 years old.
Born on December 28, 1939, in Meriwether County, Georgia, to the late Willie Pearl Mormon and the late Hulet Green, Willie grew up with a spirit of generosity and warmth that would define his entire life. He was a man who never met a stranger, always greeting the world with a smile and an open heart.
Willie married the love of his life, Shirley Patrick, and together they shared a remarkable 60 years of partnership, devotion, and family. Their union became the cornerstone of a large and loving family that brought him immeasurable joy.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Willie built a distinguished career at Ford Automotive, retiring after 34 years of faithful service. Beyond his professional life, he was well known throughout the community as the head coach of the 362 Crew Softball Team during the 1980s and 1990s, where he mentored players and built lasting bonds. He was also the beloved “neighborhood transporter,” always willing to lend a ride and his time to anyone in need.
When he was not serving others, Wild Bill could be found pursuing the outdoor passions he treasured most: fishing, hunting, and tending his garden. He found peace and contentment in the beauty of nature and in the company of family and friends.
Willie’s faith was the foundation of his life. He served faithfully as an usher at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church, where his commitment to God and his church community never wavered. His family takes comfort in knowing that he now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Bennie Geddis and Darryl Murrah.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Shirley Patrick; his children, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Passmore (Brenda), Norma Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Charles Patrick Jr. (Teresa), Andrea Neal, Eddie Patrick, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Patrick (Adrianne), and Antonio Stokes; and his siblings, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mormon (Martha), Lester Green, Sharon Mormon, Linda Green, Sharon Green, and Priscilla Campbell; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing Wild Bill.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church, Greenville.
Public visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Sewell Mortuary.
