About Us

Sewell Mortuary traces its roots back to February 1991, when its founder, Mr. Bennie Sewell, began his career working as a grave digger and monument salesman. With a strong entrepreneurial vision, he later expanded his services by producing burial vaults and slabs beginning in 2000. After years of preparation and dedication, a shared goal between father and son emerged: to establish their own funeral home.

Kearta Sewell, son of Bennie Sewell, pursued formal training at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, becoming a licensed funeral director and embalmer in February 1999. At just thirty years old, he became the owner and operator of Sewell Mortuary, Inc., located at 220 Charlie Patterson Road in the historic city of Grantville, Georgia. The funeral home officially opened on July 1, 2007. The 4,944-square-foot facility is equipped to provide full-service funeral care.

As a family-owned and operated business, Sewell Mortuary has proudly served families throughout West Georgia since 2007.
