Obituary For Maurice Mathis
With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Maurice Mathis on April 8th, 2023.The funeral service will be Saturday, April 15th, at 2 PM at Sewell Mortuary Chapel.Visitation is from 5 to 7 PM on Friday the 14th.Maurice Cortez Mathis was born on September 24, 1988, toPatreece LaSharn Sanders and the late Kevin Maurice Mathisin Atlanta, Georgia. He made his transition from this earthlylife on April 8, 2023.Maurice began his Christian experience at an early age byjoining the Atlanta Christian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Oncehe became an adult he transferred his church membership overto the OutReach Church where he was a faithful member formany years.Maurice was survived by his fiancée Charlotte Reeves; herkids and grandkids.Maurice attended Fulton County Public Schools and was agraduate of Benjamin Banneker High School in Atlanta,Georgia. He also attended Mississippi elta CommunityCollege for Music in Greenwood, Mississippi.Maurice was employed with 13 Stories in Newnan, Georgiafor many years where he was the Sound Technician. Hebecame a security guard for Mainline Aviation in 2021.Maurice loved music, and his grandmother Mrs. BobbieMathis noticed his gift at an early age and encouraged him topursue a music career. Maurice created his own business,Halftime Entertainment where he would provide music forweddings, churches, parties, and even schools. Mauriceenjoyed writing and being in plays, he was also in the movierumline and even a music video. In his spare time, heenjoyed spending time with his family, grilling, cooking, andcreating music.Maurice was known as “Rece” to some and “ReceCup” toothers, he was a very thoughtful man, and he would doanything to see others happy. He was known for alwaysmaking someone laugh.He leaves to cherish his memory: His mother PatreeceLaSharn Sanders his two siblings, Marquia Sanders andMarkus Sanders of Atlanta, Georgia.
